542 – Norton Tower – Peoples Park – This bus runs every 30 minutes,

579 – Sowerby Bridge – People’s Park – This bus runs every 20 minutes,

590 – Rishworth – People’s Park – This bus runs every 30 minutes,

These buses will take you from the Halifax Bus Station; up to Broad Street, then onto Waterhouse Street, then to George’s Square and around Bull Green Roundabout and up past Halifax Playhouse, Then you can get off at the People’s Park bus stop, then walk down Swires Road to the Practice.

Community Transport Calderdale

Community Transport Calderdale is a volunteer led transport service ‘for older and/or vulnerable people in Calderdale and Kirklees‘. ‘These may be people who struggle to leave their homes due to; location, having mobility issues, not having family or friends nearby and lack of access to public transport.’ 

‘We aim to provide transport for residents in Calderdale and Kirklees who cannot access other existing forms of transport due to –

Disability | Ill Health | Isolation | Poverty | Social Exclusion’

CTC requires all its clients to register to become a member for legal reasons.  All transport CTC provides is for members only and this costs £5.00 per year for Membership.

Car Service

The Community Car Service is a volunteer led project, run by Community Transport Calderdale

‘We have a dedicated service co-ordinator who organises our volunteer car drivers. They provide help with people attending medical appointments to places such as Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Acre mills, we can sometimes also offer services to places further away such as Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Helping residents throughout Calderdale to also attend social events, hairdresser appointments, shopping and visiting friends, helping them overcome isolation and loneliness.’

‘Our volunteers are checked for their suitability and use their own vehicles to provide the service. To help cover their costs there is a £2.50 minimum charge per trip and a 50p/mile charge after 5 miles.’

Please note this mileage cost applies for the drivers to and from their homes.

AccessBus

Metro operate an AccessBus which is a dial a ride bus service providing door to door local transport for people who are  unable to use standard local bus services.  The driver will assist passengers from door to door including boarding and alighting.

Unfortunately due the high demand on this service travel is restricted to local journeys only and mostly for shopping or to attend community centres. It is unlikely that AccessBus will be able to cater for time specific requests so they may not be able to help with you getting to you appointment.
